Consultant Psychiatry Services for Adults
We receive adult referrals for assessment and treatment.
Treatment indicated usually relates to therapeutic intervention; family, couple, group or individual therapy.
CINAPS has doctors with special professional interests in therapeutic intervention; with training and experience in behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), cognitive analytical therapy (CAT), psychodynamic therapy, creative therapies, interpersonal therapy (relationships), group therapy and systemic family therapy. This combination of therapeutic skills allows a flexible and effective therapeutic approach according to clinical need and patient preference. Most patients reach their therapeutic goals and reflect on therapy by saying "felt like chatting to a friend". Therapy
can be scheduled for 6-8 weeks (CBT for instance) or longer (psychodynamic therapy) depending on clinical presentation, recommendations and patient preference.
Adult referrals include self-referrals from professionals who we have worked with or professionals who have previously referred children to our services. As per regular guidelines, patients are not seen by doctors if close professional or personal relationships exist.
